Resume Formats
When it is time to write a new resume you may find yourself wondering which type of resume format would be best for you to use. It is little wonder that it is so confusing. There are four different types of resume format that can be used. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to choose one of the resume formats that will highlight your experience and skills in the best manner possible.
One of the well known resume formats is the chronological resume format. This type of resume format lists your work experience starting with your most recent job and then continues with previous jobs. You will also include your work experience on this resume format. The benefit of this resume format is that it focuses on your work experience. As a result, it is an excellent option to use when you have a strong work history.
Another resume format you might consider using is a functional resume format. This is the simplest of all of the resume formats. This type of resume format is commonly used either when you have a lot of work experience or when you have held a number of jobs within a short span of time. The benefit of this resume format is that it focuses on your skills rather than your work experience. It can also be used when you do not have a lot of work experience.
You might also consider using a combination resume format. This type of resume format is a combination of the two previously mentioned resume formats. It includes both your skills as well as your work history. If you are changing from one industry to another this type of resume format can be a good choice.
The fourth of the different resume formats is a curriculum vitae resume. This type of resume format is commonly used when you are applying for a position in the educational field, such as a teacher or a professor. You might also use this resume format when you have publishing credits.
Regardless of which of the resume formats that you choose it is important to make sure that your resume is as neat and professional as possible. Always make sure that you have someone proofread your resume, no matter which of the resume formats that you use, to ensure that you do not have any spelling errors or typos. Finally, make sure that your resume is not overly long. At most, your resume should be no more than two pages.
